The number of business failures is set to increase by 50%, according to new findings.

The research, from accountants BDO Stoy Hayward, shows that businesss failures will jump to 21,900 and reach 32,300 in 2009.

The construction industry is set to see the most casualties with 6,400 firms set to fail by June of next year, followed by business services (5,700 failures), real estate (3,200) and manufacturing (3,000).
