Scanning social networking sites, viewing membership directories of associations and trade groups and industry-specific blogs and newsgroups were cited as among the most common techniques to engage with passive candidates, according to research in the US by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It also revealed that companies using the .jobs domain name for employment information tend to have more effective recruiting practices in place.
