Recruiter ‘forced’ to watch striptease

A recruitment consultant told a tribunal how her bullying boss forced her to watch a private striptease with him at a lapdance club.

A recruitment consultant told a tribunal how her bullying boss forced her to watch a private striptease with him at a lapdance club.

The Sun reports that Rachel Kelly, 38, had pleaded to be allowed to go home instead and alleges that her manager, Danny Whelan, said it would be “unacceptable” and was subjected to a foul-mouthed tirade.

Kelly and Whelan had taken a client for dinner in London soon after she joined IT recruitment firm IDPP Consulting in 2007. Whelan said they would go on to Spearmint Rhino, in the West End.

Kelly said she was reluctant to go and was horrified to find she was the only woman in the audience.

She told the employment tribunal: “Danny suggested I should accompany him into the room for a private dance. I told him I would rather not.

“However, Danny was becoming angry. Eventually, I went with him under great duress.”

Kelly, of Isleworth, West London, is suing the firm and Whelan for sexual harassment and is also claiming victimisation and constructive dismissal and is said to want around £175,000 compensation. Kelly worked at IDPP’s office in Richmond, South- West London, until she quit last October.”

The case was adjourned.
