Recruiters told to wait for more from Google+
With Google+ having launched its Pages application on Monday, 7 November, which will allow business and brands more leverage on the social network, recruitment technology experts tell Recruiter that something big is on its way.
Peter Linas (left), managing director Europe, the Middle East and Africa of recruitment software specialist Bullhorn, says: “Any new development from Google has to be taken seriously by the recruitment community, as the search engine giant has already helped change the face of recruitment forever.”
Chief executive of online recruitment software firm Broadbean Technology, Kelly Robinson, tells Recruiter: “The whole Google profile element is really interesting from a recruitment standpoint, but nobody’s truly done anything exciting with it yet.
“We all know it’s coming, and everybody’s watching it, but I’ve not seen anyone using Google+ as a recruiting tool yet but that is going to happen.”
Robinson also notes less enthusiasm and uptake of social media as a recruitment tool this side of the Atlantic: “The thing that’s really different in the US is that social media is seen as very much a legitimate and actively used tool for recruitment.”
Recruiter.co.uk reported on 31 October the use of Google+ video chat application Hangout in the recruitment of software developers at Moneysupermarket.com.
