Job demand rose by 1% in May, according to the latest Reed Job Index.

The index posted a reading of 103, with demand most prominent in the charity & voluntary sector, followed by marketing & PR, legal, secretarial, and accountancy, along with the public sector in general.

However the average salary for May was £31,871, compared to £33,220 in April and £33,414 in December 2009.
