Resourcing professionals are having to be flexible to safeguard jobs, according to findings from the Keep Britain Working campaign.
The research shows that 24% of HR recruitment workers have had their pay cut since the recession began, while 17% have had hours cut and 27% have lost benefits.
Hugo Tucker, director at Bullet Search, told Recruiter: “In-house recruitment professionals are far more vulnerable because they can’t work their way out of their situation. Unless they can diversify into employee relations, for example, then they won’t have anything to do and they might be up for redundancy.
“They need to be flexible. They need to say is there anything else I can do? Can I take a salary pay cut or a cut in benefits? One of the toughest jobs to be in out there right now is an in-house recruiter.”
John Maxted, chief executive at Digby Morgan, adds: “We see it all the time. HR is having to come in line with what everyone else is doing, in terms of flexibility.”
