West Midlands recruitment agency SkyBlue is bucking industry trends by placing 900 new workers nationwide since January.

The Wolverhampton-based agency specialises in placements in the construction, civil engineering, highways, utilities and business services. The firm has maintained an average of 2,000 workers in temporary assignments per week, using a network of branches across the country.

Richard Toy, head of operations at SkyBlue, said: “Although the tough economic climate is having an effect across the recruitment industry there are still sectors that are holding steady and we are fortunate that our corporate strategy sits within these sectors.

“Our focus remains on working with key clients to maximise these opportunities rather than looking to develop new clients where credit checks are no longer a means of an accurate reference.”
