Social networking calls for ‘blind faith’

The secret of the successful use of new social media in recruitment is “blind faith”, according to one recruiter.

The secret of the successful use of new social media in recruitment is “blind faith”, according to one recruiter.

Roger Philby, chief executive of Chemistry Group, told Recruiter that persisting with the use of blogs and Twitter was a major factor in the company achieving record profits in March, April and May.

Philby said he received most feedback from potential clients as a result of the thought leadership aspect of his blogs, with Twitter being the most profitable distribution mechanism.

However, he said the benefits of using the new social media didn’t materialise over night. “You can plug away for eight weeks and all of a sudden you get traction.”
