Social websites, not job boards_2

Successful job boards of the future will have to act as a community to bring together employers and candidates, according to Hospitality Jobs Online's managing and sales director Maggie Walker.

Successful job boards of the future will have to act as a community to bring together employers and candidates, according to Hospitality Jobs Online's managing and sales director Maggie Walker.

Websites owned by the company, including HotelJobs.co.uk and ChefJobs.co.uk, get 10m hits a month. It also owns around 50 other website domain names, bought in the late 90s, including hospitality executives.co.uk, hotelsalesjobs. co.uk, hotelgraduates.co.uk and hotelmanagers.co.uk.

Walker says: "I don't like the phrase job board — it should be something more like employer-employee community. We are more than a job board, we are a social gathering site. People in the industry can conduct their life through this site."

She believes such sites should cater to the interests of the specific industries involved. For instance, reviews, links with training providers and a forum will be introduced.
