The number of recruitment agencies being placed into the hands of administrators dropped dramatically during the second quarter of 2010.
Research by Recruiter has shown 15 businesses entered administration during this period, compared to 22 in the previous quarter and 23 in the final three months of 2008, before the UK officially entered the recession.
The number of recruitment agencies with multi-million pound turnovers also decreased, falling from at least six in the first three months of 2010 to one in the second quarter.
On 8 June engineering recruiter Wynnwith Group was placed into administration and bought for a total cash consideration of £7.75m by technical recruiter Morson Group. In its last filings with Companies House, Wynnwith reported annual earnings of £87.6m; however, a statement from the company said that “the business has been loss making for some time”.
