Executive search firm Rurak & Associates has completed a search for Giant Magellan Telescope Organisation [GMTO] Corp.

GMTO is an international collaboration comprised of the Carnegie Institution for Science, the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, Harvard University, Texas A&M, the Korean Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the University of Texas at Austin, the Australian National University, the University of Chicago and the University of Arizona.

Keith Raybould, previously chief operating officer of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, has been appointed project manager to deliver a completed observatory in 2019 with a 25-metre telescope for visible-light and infrared astronomy.
