A recruiter will feature prominently on a live WebTV show to discuss the possible consequences of swine flu for small- and medium-size businesses and how firms should ensure they are properly prepared.
Sue Hill, managing director of Sue Hill Recruitment, a specialist agency for the information sector, will appear on the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) WebTV show tomorrow morning (Tuesday 28 July, 11am) to discuss the current situation, how businesses should prepare and how they should react if it hits their business.
Hill told Recruiter: “The BCC thought it would be useful having a recruiter as they would have a broad scope of views, not only from their own business but also regarding temps and supplying staff to other companies.
“We already have contingency planning in place, so we can adapt it to different scenarios such as swine flu.”
Also joining Sue and presenter Ian Collins in the studio is David Frost, the director-general of the BCC, Dr Laurence Buckman, chairman of the British Medical Association’s GP Committee, and Robert Stead, marketing director of video conferencing company Polycom.
Government ministers have warned that in a worst case scenario, 100,000 people could contract swine flu every day by the end of August, with one in eight employees forced to take time off work.
Should these projections become reality, the sheer number of people affected will undoubtedly have an impact on business productivity and the wider economy.
