Technology first for virtual fair
Following on from its series of virtual job fairs, Middle Eastern job site Bayt.com has staged its first technology-specific virtual fair.
The Virtual Technology Job Fair was run with strategic partner Dubai Internet City, which features an international community of technology and communication companies. The virtual event ran from 28 March to 1 April. Participants included Microsoft, Oracle, HP, Ericsson and Orange. Unlike Second Life virtual career fairs, jobseekers didn’t need to create an avatar to attend and were able to chat to potential employers and drop their CVs in an exhibitor’s 3D virtual booth at any time of day. Amer Zureikat, regional manager at Bayt.com, told Recruiter that the number of registrations with a day to go had passed 27,270 jobseekers and the total number of employer booth views was in excess of 60,400.
