The Sports Recruitment Company (TSRC) has appointed former Sport England regional director Lesley Burn to head up a new division aimed at helping national, regional and county sports bodies recruit the best people to raise the performance standards and participation levels of sport in the UK.
She will head up Public Sport, a division of TSRC, and work with publicly funded sports organisations including London 2012 and community sports networks.
Her other previous posts have included sports coaching.
Burn said: “More money is being injected into the UK’s public sport industry, as well as supporting the delivery of London 2012.  Our aim is to source the best people for the jobs that are crucial to the future of sport in the UK.”
Will Lloyd, TSRC director, said: “Historically, agencies haven’t been much involved with this sort of recruitment. But there’s increasing pressure for us to be more pro-active, and not just rely on the pool of existing talent out there.”
Lloyd said filling the roles would involve a combination of headhunting, advertising and utilising a candidate database.
TSRC was founded five years ago. It has an office in London, and another in Geneva. Clients have included Arsenal Football club.
