A consortium is at the early stage of planning the £2bn development of a theme park in Kent’s Swanscombe peninsula that would rival Disneyland Paris, reports Sky News.

It would eventually created 27,000 full-time direct jobs, with details of construction jobs that would be created if the scheme comes together to be announced shortly.

The development is led by London Resort Company Holdings (LRCH), a consortium including cement firm Lafarge and British Development Securities.

Sky News claims that LRCH has signed a deal with Hollywood studio Paramount, which would see the park themed around major Paramount films.

Project manager Tony Sefton told the news channel LRCH planned to get the project open by 2018.
