Private investors Key Capital Partners (KCP) have invested £2m to take a minority stake in energy & resources recruitment firm EarthStream.

The investment will see the company expand its capabilities in its existing market, as well as accelerate expansion into the US and Japan.

EarthStream has a physical presence in 10 countries across Europe, Africa, Asia and North America, with a London headquarters and over 130 staff.

The transaction is KCP’s third in the recruitment sector following investments in blue-collar labour recruiter Templine and the supporting of a management buy-out at healthcare industry recruiter Nurse Plus.

Philip Duquenoy, director at KCP, originated the deal having previously worked with Paul Beeke, EarthStream’s chief executive officer. Beeke was the founder of specialist recruiter James Harvard International Group, sold to Hays in 2007, where Duquenoy worked between 2005 and 2010, and was group finance director and an investor in the business.

As part of the deal, KCP investment partner Mike Fell and director Philip Duquenoy will join the board at EarthStream.
