A knock-on effect of ongoing debates around the future of gun ownership restrictions in the US has been to create employment.

This is according to Indiana TV station Fox59, which notes there has been a spike in the demand for guns and ammunition that people are worried they may not have access to in the near future.

As a result, some gun manufacturers “are scrambling to find enough workers”, the channel says, although many of these are contract and temporary roles.

An expert tells the station the gun industry employs 240,000 people nationwide, equivalent to nearly 0.2% of the US workforce.
