Jobs Watch: CH2M Hill and KFC

Engineering firm CH2M Hill is to create 500 jobs in the UK over a range of disciplines following an acquisition, while restaurant chain KFC will add 1,600 jobs within the company.

The US-based company acquired British engineering firm Halcrow in November 2011 and will now expand that UK offering with the creation of 500 jobs.

Alongside these roles CH2M Hill will take on 40 people in graduate level roles as well as offering 30 apprenticeships and 30 internships. Permanent hiring will take place across its various infrastructure divisions including nuclear, transportation, earth engineering and water.

The firm currently employs 3,300 people in the UK.



KFC
Fast-food restaurant KFC is to create 1,600 jobs this year as it opens more than 40 new branches across the UK and Ireland.

The firm will spend over £40m on new restaurants and a further £40m on making over 160 current outlets.

The firm employs around 24,000 people in the UK and has opened at least 30 new restaurants annually since it arrived in the country in 1965. It is owned by Yum! Brands.
