The cabinet of the government of The Netherlands has approved the rule change, which will come into force on 1 July.
Some such professions included are asbestos remover and crane operator – and workers will have to pass the tests even if they are only doing a few days work.
The required level to pass the language tests will vary from job to job.
• As previously reported by Recruiter, Dutch government has taken similar steps to the UK delaying the freedom of Croatian workers to take up work in The Netherlands after Croatia joins the EU on 1 July.
