The co-founder of Silicon Milkroundabout tells Recruiter that demand for staff with key skills at startup technology companies is as fierce as ever.

Peter Smith, who co-founded the twice-a-year job fair held close to London’s East London technology hub (pictured right), tells Recruiter that technology startup companies are particularly keen to find staff with cross-disciplinary skills, such as designers with software engineering or front-end or web development skills.

“Software engineers with design skills are really valuable to start-ups,” says Smith.

However, Joshua March, co-founder and chief executive officer of startup social media business Conversocial, says that the tech scene has evolved, making it easier for startups to hire.

He says: “One of the most exciting changes is how much easier it is to hire great developers than just a few years ago. Undertakings like Silicon Milkroundabout and the Tech City initiative, backed by so much government and press support, have turned startups into a viable career path.”

The next Silicon Milkroundabout event takes place on the weekend of 11 and 12 May at the Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, E1 6QL
