Thu, 16 May 2013Job site TheLadders.co.uk has gone into insolvency, but the company’s administrators say that they are currently marketing the business’s assets and have already “received indications of interest from a number of parties”.
The development will not impact on its estranged US sibling TheLadders.com, as the two are separate legal entities.
An ‘Insolvency Notice’ has been posted on the website of TheLadders.co.uk, explaining that two joint administrators of the company have been appointed from Cheshire insolvency practitioners Lines Henry.
This also notes that TheLadders.co.uk “is wholly independent and is completely unrelated toTheLadders.com, Inc or any other company with a similar name”.
The brief statement released to Recruiter from Lines Henry addresses reasons for the company’s demise in brief, saying: “The company has experienced difficult trading conditions in recent months leading to the directors seeking advice and appointing the joint administrators.”
A spokesperson for TheLadders.com tells Recruiter: “Recently, it has been brought to our attention that TheLadders.co.uk will be winding down its operations, which will have no impact on our US business.
“TheLadders.co.uk has been an independent legal entity operating separately under new management for almost a year. In July 2012, TheLadders transferred its ownership interest in TheLadders.co.uk in full, and licensed TheLadders.co.uk brand to the purchaser.”
Two former employees of TheLadders.co.uk tell Recruiter that the company’s office move from London to Greater Manchester was the start of its demise. This took place in July 2012, according to Companies House filings. However, a third ex-employee suggests the move was “the right thing to do”, adding: “I don’t think it was the beginning of the end.”
