Engineering and planning consultancy Arup has developed an ambitious plan alongside local authorities in the Midlands to put the region at the centre of UK economic growth, creating 100,000 jobs and boosting GDP by as much as £19.5bn.

Engineering and planning consultancy Arup has developed an ambitious plan alongside local authorities in the Midlands to put the region at the centre of UK economic growth, creating 100,000 jobs and boosting GDP by as much as £19.5bn.
The 200-page masterplan for ‘UK Central', as the development would be known, sets out a 27-year timeframe and is commissioned by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council and the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnerships.
It proposes growth in sectors including automotive assembly, low carbon research & development, business & professional services, financial services, clinical trials and creative % digital sectors, as well as boosting education and training.
