AOL Ireland, a subsidiary of media giant AOL, and engineering and manufacturing service firm Connor Solutions are on the look out for technical talent, while the Scottish city of Perth is looking at new jobs and economic development thanks to a road-building plan.

AOL Ireland
As part of a goal of “driving the development of cutting-edge technology and content platforms, and leading the way in the innovation of digital advertising solution”, the firm plans to create 40 new software engineering roles.

The new jobs will come in Dublin over the next 12 months, with positions for both junior and senior candidates. The posts are within AOL Networks, the team leading AOL’s advertising solutions.

There are currently 170 AOL staff in Dublin, which is to launch its 2014 Technology Graduate Programme in August.

Connor Solutions
The company is creating what business news website Bdaily calls “60 new engineering and highly-skilled assembly jobs”, following investment.

The £3.6m funding comes from Barclays, supported by the Government’s Regional Growth Fund.

Bdaily says the company hopes to double the capacity of its factory, extend its capability in global logistics support and secure “further growth in niche electronics products used in the medical, industrial, aerospace and energy sectors”.

Perth
According to local paper The Courier, councillors will this week be asked to approve nearly £21m of borrowing for the first stage of the Perth Transport Plan, which would create the potential for between 3,000 and 5,000 new jobs.

The plan would see an upgrade motorway junction and easier connections around the area, which council leader Ian Miller reckons will “bring increased investment into Perth and allow sustainable development to the West and North-West of the City”, he tells the paper. It would also improve air quality, he adds.
