Wed, 5 Jun 2013A new technology campus for tech giant Apple would create 9,200 construction jobs over its three-year build period, house 7,400 new Apple employees, and support 4,600 new permanent jobs in the local area.
This is according to a report on the economic impact of the Apple Campus 2 scheme, dubbed the ‘Spaceship campus’, produced for Apple by real estate advisory firm Keyser Marston Associates in the town of Cupertino.
This will create a further 4,600 jobs in the local area, through “indirect and induced impacts”.
The construction of Apple Campus 2 would create 9,200 direct and a further 3,400 indirect positions in Cupertino and the county.
This comes two weeks after Apple boss Tim Cook pledged the investment of $100m (£66m) in job-creating projects in Illinois and Texas, facing a congressional hearing in which he was grilled over the firm’s corporate tax arrangements.
