Jobseekers applying for more roles than before, finds CV-Library

Available online, CV-Library’s Job Market Report – July 2013 shows an average number of applications made per candidates of 6.09 in the month, up significantly from the 4.75 figure seen across the second quarter of 2012, and the 5.03 in the first three months of this year.

Between June and July alone, the overall number of job searches and applications across the site was up 22% and 39%.

The number of jobs advertised in Q2 saw a modest increase of 3.32% on the previous quarter – again corresponding to rising competition.

Jobs in the military, emergency & government and management categories of job site CV-Library are among a number of industries seeing applicant numbers double over the past year. The data shows:
  • Military, emergency & government saw 132% more applicants in July 2013 than July 2012, reaching 20.32 applicants/job
  • Management (up 119% to 20.32)
  • Accounting & finance (up 108% to 19.82)
  • Leisure & tourism (up 102% to 23)
  • Manufacturing (up 101% to 22)
  • Media (up 100% to 15.81)

For the second successive month, administration roles continue to be CV-Library’s most hotly contested, at 63.86 candidates per job. The market-wide average has risen from 9.41 to 17.29.
