Thailand tops HSBC’s Asia-dominated best expat experience list

HSBC’s Expat Explorer survey, which questioned over 7,000 expatriates in nearly 100 countries worldwide, finds 36% of expats moved for better job prospects.

The top five is completed by the Cayman Islands in fourth and Australia in fifth. A total of five Asian countries make the top 10, with places six through to 10 going, in order, to: Singapore, India, Taiwan, Spain and Brazil.

Overall, 26% of expats said they had a better social life since moving, although this rises to 35% in Asia.

The top three professions, in order, for expatriate job moves were found to be education, banking, insurance & financial services, and construction, manufacturing & utilities.

The top 10 destinations for expatriate earning potential were:
