Vodafone targets IITs for graduate recruitment

International telecoms firm Vodafone is stepping up its graduate recruitment in India with an increased focus on the country’s elite Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) universities, reports the Times of India.

The firm will also look to engage people from a younger age, with 40% of its total 1,800 hires in the next year likely to be freshers, up from 20% last year, HR director for Vodafone India Ashok Ramchandran tells the paper.
According to the Times, Vodafone is launching its first summer internship programme this year.

• In other news from IITs, the Deccan Chronicle reports that with one-third of the 6,000 roles for IIT faculty staff nationally remaining unfilled, the organisations will look attract more applicants by providing jobs to the spouses of those taking up roles, and possibly even a place at the university for their children.
