Mon, 9 Nov 2013Industrial machinery manufacturer JCB is to create an additional 2,500 jobs by 2018 in a £150m investment which it says could add a further 7,500 jobs in the UK supply chain.
The company will build two manufacturing facilities in Staffordshire to replace existing smaller factories, expand one further manufacturing site, and relocate its finance and insurance brands to new purpose-built facilities, also in Staffordshire.
It will also create an in-house training facility for staff, run in conjunction with universities, to support its apprenticeship and graduate training programmes.
The supply chain jobs figure comes from a recent Oxford Economics study finding that every direct JCB job creates three more in the UK supply chain.
A company spokesperson said that no further detail on the types of jobs or methods of recruitment could be given at this time.
