Mon, 2 Dec 2013Supermarket chain Lidl is looking to more than double its UK store numbers in coming years in a move that will create thousands of jobs.

The German firm’s UK managing director Ronny Gottschlich told The Daily Telegraph this weekend it would expand its present 600 stores to up to 1,500.

A company spokesperson tells recruiter.co.uk it would be difficult to predict how many jobs the new shops would create. According to the Telegraph, Lidl has 1,300 UK staff.

The news comes after another Germany-based discount retailer, Aldi, promised substantial UK hiring and expansion in August this year.
