Mon, 2 Dec 2013The traditionally quiet month of November was anything but for City recruiters, with 38% more jobs opening compared to the same month last year.
This is according to the monthly survey from banking and financial recruiter Astbury Marsden, based on role flow data extrapolated across the market.
A total of 2,500 new jobs were created, up from 6% in October, bucking a traditional decline as markets wind down before the bonus announcement season begins. The last time this trend was reversed was 2010.
Astbury Marsden chief operating officer Mark Cameron says the changing regulation is also a major driver of City recruitment, with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) rules being “the current big headache”.
