Turnover for the year to 30 June 2013 at the multi-brand recruitment group dropped from £24.8m last year to £23.2m.

Gross profit also fell by a similar margin, totalling £13.7m against the previous year’s £14.3m, and 2012’s post-tax profit of £21k turned into a small loss of just under £4k last year.

The company’s staff count averaged 130 through the year, against 144 in 2012.

Ship Shape Resources
The payroll services firm saw turnover grow by just under a fifth from £37.2m to £44m in the 12 months to 31 May 2013.

Gross profit dropped marginally to £2.2m, but reduced administration costs saw the company turn the previous year’s £85k profit into a £409k profit for 2013.

Ship Shape was named last month in the London Stock Exchange’s list of ‘1,000 Companies to Inspire Britain' - and has been positioned in the upper echelons of the Recruiter FAST 50 league table of the UK's fastest-growing recruitment firms for the past two years. However, having moved its business from recruitment services to payroll provision in recent years, it will no longer be eligible for the list from 2014.

  • The 2014 Recruiter FAST 50 will be published in January’s Recruiter, landing on subscribers’ desks by Friday, 17 January – and look out for the first preview video of this year’s list on recruiter.co.uk next week.
