The UK’s unpredictable weather is set to cost the recruitment industry millions of pounds in lost productivity and delays in cash collection, according to research by Etz Timesheet Solutions.

On average, the recruitment industry is estimated to generate in excess of £500m per week. Delays to this cash flow from dependencies on paper timesheets may create a significant hole in working capital.

Disruption to travel can prevent recruitment sector office staff performing office admin and essential processing that keeps agency invoicing and payroll ticking over.

Reporting yesterday on the impact the floods have had on local recruitment agencies, Recruiter mentioned how workers being advised not to travel could lead to a number of offices grinding to a complete stop.

Recruiter tried to contact both the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) but both were unable to comment regarding enquiries from members about flood-related issues.
