Labour leader Ed Miliband is looking for a parliamentary apprentice who will earn £8.80 per hour for helping to run his office over the next 12 months.
The job announcement on the Parliamentary Academy website reveals that the responsibilities will include providing support for meetings and events including arranging meetings and greeting visitors, ordering stationery, helping to book travel and accommodation, and co-ordinating invitations and replying to requests.
Since the advertisement was posted 10 days ago, a Parliamentary Academy spokesman told recruiter.co.uk: “We’ve had about 40 or 50 applications.”
The deadline to apply is next Monday (30 June). Essential qualifications are GCSEs in Maths and English at grade A*-C, with essential knowledge and skills including “a good knowledge of the Labour Party and its structures”.
To apply for the role, applicants must send a CV and covering letter in which they must answer the following questions in no more than 250 words each per question:
The successful candidate will study towards an NVQ Level 3 Business and Administration qualification, the announcement says. The Parliamentary Academy programme offers its participants weekly workshops with the on-the-job experience.
The anticipated start date is two weeks from the application deadline, the Parliamentary Academy spokesman said.
