The ‘2014 Michael Page New Zealand Employee Intentions Report’ finds that 50% of professionals surveyed are very likely to change roles in the coming year, while 23% are quite likely to look for a new job.

Other findings were:

  • Over the last 12 months, 81% of survey respondents looked for a new job. Nine out of 10 (90%) of these attended an interview, with 62% interviewing for a role in a different company

  • 34% were offered the role and accepted a new job last year

  • 27% of respondents said that scope for career progression was most important when looking for a new role this year, followed by a salary increase of 10-12% that was ranked most important by 23%.

Pete Macauley, regional director of Michael Page in New Zealand, says: “Over the last 12 months New Zealand experienced an active and competitive job market and this will continue in the year ahead. Healthy economic conditions with a strong dollar, high business confidence and a low unemployment rate is expected to drive a positive business market and rising demand for professional talent and job opportunities in the coming months.”
