Tasmanian jobseekers are being encouraged to consider a career in the dairy industry, as up to 700 new jobs are expected to become available over the coming years.
A scheme called the ‘Getting Into Dairy’ pre-employment training programme has been launched to help jobseekers learn about the dairy industry and the benefits of working in a sector that has such potential for growth.
The Australian government has also introduced a number of programmes to support jobseekers and businesses in an effort to help more Australians into work.
Tasmanian employers can receive a subsidy of A$3.25k (£1.8k) if they hire an eligible jobseeker who has been unemployed for six months and resident in Tasmania during that time.
Tasmanian employers can also access the government’s new Restartwage subsidy that provides up to $10k if they employ an eligible jobseeker aged 50 or over, and keep that person employed for two years.
More than 200 jobs are expected to become available in the dairy industry in the coming year.
