Global recruiter Nakama Group, which operates in the media, creative and digital sectors, has posted a £47k rise in pre-tax profit and a 5% increase in revenue.

The AIM-listed company’s financial results for the year ended 31 March 2014 showed that pre-tax profit had increased to £56k from £9k in 2013. For the same period group revenue has increased to £17.5m, compared to £16.7m. The growth has largely been driven by the firm’s operations in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

At an operational level, revenue across the APAC region increased by 39% to £5.3m, compared to  £3.8m in 2013. However, revenue for the UK was down to around £11.5m in 2014, compared to £11.7m in 2013.

In a statement, Ken Ford, chairman of Nakama Group, said: “Our stated strategy of expanding into our specialist areas internationally is proving successful, but tough UK market conditions have had an impact on UK profits.”
