Inner London has the highest proportion of high-skill jobs in England, according to the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.

Inner London has the highest proportion of high-skill jobs in England, according to the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.
The department yesterday released its analysis of Q1 2014 labour force survey data which showed that 63% of jobs in inner London jobs were classified as high-skill positions.
The next highest was the South East with 50%, closely followed by outer London with 48%.
Broken down into percentage of total jobs for people aged 16-64 by region, the full results were as follows:
Inner London 63%
South East 50%
Outer London 48%
East of England 46%
South West 44%
Rest of North West 43%
West Yorkshire 42%
Rest of West Midlands 42%
Merseyside 41%
East Midlands 40%
Greater Manchester 40%
Rest of Yorkshire and Humberside 39%
West Midlands Metro County 37%
Tyne and Wear 37%
South Yorkshire 36%
Rest of North East 33%
High-skill jobs were defined as occupations that are classified as levels 1-3 in the standard occupational classification system.
At the highest level, these include managing director and other senior positions. At the medium level, they include professional occupations, including doctors and scientists, where postholders are required to hold degree-level qualifications. The third tier includes associate professional and technical occupations, such as laboratory technician and draughtsman, an Office for National Statistics spokesperson said.
