Malta puts stop to employment discrimination against transgender people

It is now illegal for employers in Malta to discriminate against transgender people on the grounds of sex, following a law amendment, the Malta Independent has reported.
Tue, 19 Aug 2014It is now illegal for employers in Malta to discriminate against transgender people on the grounds of sex, following a law amendment, the Malta Independent has reported.

The law previously only made reference to sexual orientation.

The amendment protects anyone who has undergone, is undergoing, intends to undergo or is considering undergoing the gender reassignment process, or part of a process.

It is part of the equal treatment in employment regulations, within the Employment and Industrial Relations Act.
