The Low Pay Commission has launched a public consultation to find out people’s views on the national minimum wage.

The Low Pay Commission has launched a public consultation to find out people’s views on the national minimum wage.
A statement from the commission said it had been asked to prepare a report for the government on the minimum wage by February next year.
“This essential evidence from across the UK will help inform our recommendations to the government,” it said.
The consultation closes on Friday September 26. People can voice their opinions at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Nationalminimumwage2014
The commission is a statutory body tasked with advising the government on the National Minimum Wage.
The wage for people aged 21 and over is £6.31 per hour, £4.98 for those aged 18-20, and £3.68 for those aged 16-17. The apprentice minimum wage, paid to those aged 19 or those in the first year of their apprenticeship, is £2.65 per hour.
