Faking a total of 15 skills competency certificates for household workers has earned two recruitment agencies in the Philippines a suspension, pending investigation.
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) yesterday announced that the orders of preventative suspension had been issued to Excel Manpower Corporation and Global Recruitment Connections – Ph Corporation.
In a statement, POEA administrator Hans Cacdac says the agencies submitted the fake certificates in July this year.
The certificate concerned, issued by the country’s Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, is required of household services workers who are bound for overseas employment.
However, in these cases, the documents were found during processing to have no security features.
Cacdac says Global Recruitment submitted six fake certificates while Excel Manpower submitted nine.
The order of preventative suspension effectively prohibits the agencies from recruiting and deploying workers, pending investigation and subsequent filing of appropriate recruitment violation cases against them.
