A recruitment con in North-East Colombia has seen six men arrested after posing as US Army colonels, according to website Colombia Reports.

A recruitment con in North-East Colombia has seen six men arrested after posing as US Army colonels, according to website Colombia Reports.

The men allegedly visited security training schools in the city of Cucuta, offering students a better quality of life and a competitive salary if they joined the Dubai Army as security guards for petroleum projects in the United Arab Emirates.

The students were made to pay US$160 (£95) to sign up.

The men face charges of using false documents, breach of trust and fraud. Due to the small sums they are accused of gaining fraudulently, they are out on bail.
