Thu, 25 Sept 2014Professional services company KPMG has taken on 71 school leavers for its 12-month work experience programme.

The leavers, who have just completed their A-levels, or equivalent, will rotate around different sectors of the business every three to six months as they complete the STAR programme.

At the end of the year they will be given opportunities to apply for another KPMG programme, or for other roles within the company.

In a statement, director and STAR programme lead Alison Fryer said the programme was launched in response to internal demand for junior resources and the need to increase diversity within the company’s workforce.

The STAR programme, which has been running since 2010, recruits candidates with the help of schools and colleges across London, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester and Watford.

So far, 43 of the 84 people who have completed the STAR programme have started permanent jobs with the company.
