FAST 50 2015: Oil & gas recruiters make hay in FAST 50 - at least for now

The strong performance of oil & gas recruiters in this year’s Recruiter FAST 50 is the culmination of years of investment in the sector, which has driven demand for specialist workers in “what is already a tight labour market”, says Mark Kingston, assistant director, Boxington Corporate Finance, compilers of the FAST 50, which lists the fastest-growing private staffing companies in the UK.
Tue, 20 Jan 2015 | By Colin CottellThe strong performance of oil & gas recruiters in this year’s Recruiter FAST 50 is the culmination of years of investment in the sector, which has driven demand for specialist workers in “what is already a tight labour market”, says Mark Kingston, assistant director, Boxington Corporate Finance, compilers of the FAST 50, which lists the fastest-growing private staffing companies in the UK.

The full FAST 50 list, sponsored by Hitachi Capital Invoice Finance, will be published in the February issue of Recruiter magazine, which will land on desks at the end of this week (22-24 January).

However, in the light of the recent crash in oil prices, which has seen the oil price halve since June and could threaten further investment in the sector, Kingston adds: “It has yet to be seen whether this can be maintained given the volatility of the oil price.”

This year for the first time, oil & gas recruiters have been listed in a separate breakout table. This excludes engineering and technical recruiters, which are ranked separately. Even so, the growth performance of oil & gas sector recruiters in the sector is such that they make up 16% of this year’s FAST 50. Fircroft makes it into the FAST 50 for the fifth consecutive year.
