The United Arab Emirates is the number one location choice for internationally based contractors, according to a survey from international professional services consultancy Procorre.
The survey reveals 15.5% of all international workers chose the UAE as their country of choice for relocation, closely followed by the US with 15.2%.
While a report from management consultancy Boston Consulting Group revealed last week the US is the most popular destination for people throughout the world willing to relocate for work, Procorre’s research shows English-speaking countries – the US, Australia, UK and Canada – in the other four slots in the top five countries international workers would most like to work.
Procorre attributes the UAE’s position ahead of these countries to its 0% taxes on income, as well as work created by infrastructure projects.
These include the Etihad Rail, a 1,200km railway line that will extend across the UAE connecting major industry zones; the Al Maktoum International Airport, located in Dubai, which is set to be one of the world’s largest airports; and The Lagoons, a small city (70m sq ft) that will be made up of five islands connected by water.
