Thu, 9 Apr 2015Australasian recruitment trade body the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA) has called for a new adaptable category of employment removing certain restrictions placed on temporary work.
In its submission to the Productivity Commission, the Australian government’s principal review and advisory body on microeconomic policy and regulation, the RCSA calls on the commission to explore a more responsive and flexible workplace relations framework, and a new hybrid of casual and permanent employment.
The new hybrid form of employment would mean individual employees would have the ability to decide to receive a full “casual loading”, whereby temp workers receive a higher hourly rate than permanent equivalent workers as they don’t get benefits such as sick or annual leave. Or they could decide at different stages of their employment lifecycle whether they wish to benefit from accrued financial entitlements to cover unexpected life changes.
