Adecco’s De Maeseneire to step down by September
Patrick De Maeseneire, Adecco’s chief executive, has chosen to stand down and will leave the recruitment giant at the end of the summer.
In a statement released this morning, the group said De Maeseneire will hand over his duties at the end of August 2015. He has held the role since 1 June 2009. Alain Dehaze has been appointed by the board of directors to succeed De Maeseneire as CEO. He takes up his role from September. Dehaze has been regional head of France and member of the Executive Committee since 2009.
Meanwhile, chief financial officer Dominik de Daniel has also decided to step down. He leaves his post at the end of July.
The statement added the board of directors will appoint a new group CFO and regional head of France in the coming months.
A spokesperson for Adecco told Recruiter De Maeseneire stepped down for “personal” reasons.
She added: “Mr De Massieniere has been the CEO of Adecco for the past six years, since 2009. He has also been at Adecco before for another three years.
“2015 was a milestone for him. From the very beginning a defined succession plan would allow for a smooth transition. It was kind of planned for him. There are no other specific reasons [for his departure].”
Adecco also released results this morning for Q1 2015. In the UK & Ireland, the group recorded Q1 revenues of €555m (£415m), down 1% year-on-year. Roughly two-thirds of revenue in the UK comes from professional staffing, which declined by 1%. This included reduced revenue of 1% in both IT and finance & legal. Within general staffing, most revenue comes from office appointments where performance was flat in the quarter.
Across the group posted overall Q1 revenues of €5,083m, up 9% year-on-year, gross profit of €972m, up 12% and earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation (EBITA) of €236m up 31%.
