US-listed healthcare recruiter AMN Healthcare has acquired The First String Healthcare, which provides senior level temporary and permanent nurses. 

In a statement, AMN Healthcare president and chief executive Susan Salka said the services provided by The First String were in “very high [client] demand”.

The First String also provides training and mentoring programmes for nurse leaders. 

The deal cost US$6.5m (£4.2m) plus up to $4m extra, based on future performance of the acquired company.
