Director disqualified for hiring illegal workers
The director of a vehicle valeting company has been disqualified for employing illegal workers.
A joint statement from the Insolvency Service and the Home Office reveals Phillip Atsu Tsegah, the sole registered director of Oval Vehicle Valeting Company, has been disqualified from acting as a company director for six years after it was found the company employed two people who didn’t have the right to work in the UK.
His disqualification follows an investigation involving the Insolvency Service and Home Office Immigration Enforcement (formerly UK Border Agency).
Having visited Aldershot-based Oval Vehicle Valeting Co in December 2013, UK Border Agency officials found Tsegah had breached immigration laws, and the company was fined £10k.
Despite having enough company funds available in its bank account after the penalty had been imposed, the company failed to pay and entered liquidation in March 2014. At the time the firm owed more than £28k, including the penalty for employing illegal workers.
The ban means Tsegah may not be a director of a company or be involved in the management of a company in any way for the duration of his disqualification without leave of the court.
