China e-commerce industry inspires candidate confidence
Mon, 26 Oct 2015
Chinese jobseeker confidence was strongest in the e-commerce sector in the three months to September 30, despite decreasing confidence in the overall economy, according to the latest CIER Employment Index Report.
The quarterly report says job seeker confidence in the overall Chinese economy decreased, as the country worked to readjust its economy as growth slowed. Following three years (2011-14) of increasing confidence, CIER index scores began to trend downward in the second quarter of this year (May to June).
The index ranked confidence in China’s economy overall at 2.46 in Q1 this year, 2.03 in Q2 and 1.96 in Q3.
An index score of more than one indicates confidence is high for job seekers seeking employment; an index score of less than one indicates this is low.
However, during this quarter, the e-commerce sector registered a CIER index score of 5.63, the highest in all sectors, demonstrating strong jobseeker confidence.
Other sectors with strong confidence include financial services, insurance, education and real estate.
The 10 worst-performing sectors, where confidence was lowest include accounting, energy, aerospace research and manufacturing, academia and property management.
The report was compiled by Chinese job board Zhaopin and the China Institute for Employment Research at Renmin University.
