The Australian government has launched a public consultation as it looks to create a National Disability Employment Framework.

The framework is intended to help create better job opportunities for disabled people.

In a statement, minister for social services Christian Porter said the country had a range of disability employment support services but performance could be improved.

Only one in three jobseekers using the service finds long-term (26 weeks or more) employment, he added.

The consultation closes on 7 December.
